Ken Carlson Realty is your source for Black Lake Lakefront Real Estate in the county of Cheboygan.
Situated in the counties of Cheboygan and Presque Isle in Northern lower Michigan, Black Lake is part of an area known as the Sturgeon Capital of Michigan. Seventh largest lake in the state of Michigan, Black Lake has a surface area of over 10,000 acres. The largest body of water within the the Black River Watershed, it has gained notoriety for its fishery including the sturgeon which are still fished here each year.
Black Lake is a glacially formed lake and is round in shape with a depth of up to 50 feet and a sandy bottom. A popular all-sport lake, it welcomes thousands of visitors each year to enjoy its cool, clear waters in summer. Boating, jet skiing, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking are all popular on the lake in summer. In winter, the very short sturgeon season opens and allows 25 lucky anglers the opportunity to take a sturgeon. When 5 fish over 38 inches have been taken, the season is over.
A beautiful and clean lake, Black Lake has the added perk of being surrounded by natural areas. Many fewer homes and properties exist on Black Lake than on other Michigan inland lakes making it a popular one for those who enjoy a more wilderness type lake atmosphere. That being said, the homes and properties for sale on Black Lake are beautiful and range from small to large. Currently, we have around 30 homes for sale on Black Lake.
