Protecting Northern Michigan Rivers And Lakes
The following excerpt is from NAR s preamble and code of conduct…………..
Under all is the land. Upon its wise utilization and widely allocated ownership depend the survival and growth of free institutions and of our civilization. REALTORS® should recognize that the interests of the nation and its citizens require the highest and best use of the land and the widest distribution of land ownership. They require the creation of adequate housing, the building of functioning cities, the development of productive industries and farms, and the preservation of a healthful environment.
I have lived in northern Michigan my entire life. After I left high school I almost moved to a southern part of the state to work at General Motors. I have always been a country boy and never regret the decision I made to stay and raise my family in the Roscommon/Grayling areas. One of the reasons I decided to sell real estate was the desire to do my part in preventing the over development of Northern Michigan. I embrace the “conservation easement” as a way that free land owners can set aside and preserve land in perpetual conservation for generations to come.
At the south side of the Kellogg bridge on the east side of the river is the location of a “conservancy easement” along the North Branch of the Ausable River.
Since Headwaters Land Conservancy was established they have worked with property owners to preserve 8 miles along the Ausable river with the goal to add to the preservation of river front total to 2o miles of protected river by 2011!
Take a look at these gorgeous pictures on the North Branch of the Ausable. This should encourage all users of the natural resource to use it wisely.
